An introduction to the dynamic on translation surfaces

Abstract
Translation surfaces are beautiful and rich objects, whose study can be motivated both by physical problems and by complex geometry ones. In this short course, we will motivate their study, introduce some fundamental examples and prove two foundational results connecting their geometry and the dynamics of the geodesic flow on them: Masur's criterion and Veech Dichotomy.
